Accessibility

Public transport
The NM Oranjehotel is accessible by bus 22 and bus 23. The bus is wheelchair accessible. Only mobility scooters are not permitted due to their size and turning circle. The distance from the bus stop to the entrance is approximately 400 meters.

Parking
We have three disabled parking spaces on our own grounds. Reserving a disabled parking space is not possible.

Inside the museum

Entrance and Entrance Area
You reach the museum via a 50-meter cobblestone path. At the entrance, there is a small threshold and a glass door that must be opened manually. A museum staff member can assist you with this door if needed. The museum is entirely on one level. Internal thresholds have been concealed.
There is ample space to maneuver at the ticket desk, our shop, and in our food and beverage area. The lockers and coat check are wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms
The museum has an accessible toilet. This toilet is located next to the other toilets. The doorway is 86 cm wide. The toilet area measures 222 x 169 cm with ample room to maneuver. The door is not automatic.

Exhibition Spaces and Facilities

  • Most exhibition spaces offer ample room to maneuver. The introductory film is shown in former cells. The doorway is 89 cm wide. This film can also be shown in a larger room with a wider doorway. Our staff members are happy to help you.
  • Several benches are available in the halls and corridors. These benches have no armrests or backrests.
  • The museum's collection is sensitive to light. Excessive light can cause discoloration of the collection. Therefore, the lighting is designed to minimize damage to the documents and objects. This allows for low-lighting in the museum spaces. Some spotlights may be perceived as somewhat harsh by those who are sensitive to bright light.

Tips for a low-stimulus visit
Bring your own noise-canceling headphones during your museum visit.
A low-stimulus room is available.
